Christina Leavenworth of WEAR-TV and Christian Jennings of WPMI-TV recently produced reports from New Orleans, Louisiana about activities related to the Super Bowl (it was scheduled to take place in New Orleans on Sunday, February 3rd) that were eventually broadcast by each other's station. The reason the stations were able to broadcast reports from each other was because the Sinclair Broadcast Group was servicing the operations of both stations. The arrangement was a result of the group purchasing WPMI-TV and selling its broadcast license to Deerfield Media, Inc.
When Bob Solarski of WEAR-TV introduced the report by Christian Jennings during a local news program for WEAR-TV, he did not make any reference to WPMI-TV while crediting Christian Jennings. When the same report was broadcast WPMI-TV, Greg Peterson referred to Christian Jennings as "Local 15's Christian Jennings" during a local news program for his station.
When Tami Brehse of WPMI-TV introduced the report by Christina Leavenworth during a local news program for WPMI-TV, she did not make any reference to WEAR-TV while crediting Christina Leavenworth. She said "Local 15's Christina Leavenworth" as if she were an employee of the station.
Both of the reports did not have any visible or audible references to either WPMI-TV and WEAR-TV. For example, both Christina Leavenworth and Christian Jennings did not use microphones with flags identifying their work stations. They also did not mention their primary stations while ending their reports (signing off).
