Come out and brave Friday the 13th by enjoying the indie-folk sounds of Elvis Perkins in Dearland. The New York four-piece released their new EP, Doomsday, in October and will be making a tour stop at The Parish along with Alabama's AA Bondy. While the music itself isn't scary, the Friday the 13th timing is apt. Elvis Perkins is the son of Anthony Perkins who played Norman Bates in Psycho.

Straight from my good friends at Wikipedia: Known for their wide range of dynamics and eclectic instrumentation, Elvis Perkins in Dearland have frequently drawn comparisons to Leonard Cohen, Neutral Milk Hotel, Buddy Holly and The Band. The band formed in Providence, RI around 2004 when Elvis moved to the East Coast upon completing Ash Wednesday, although the members have been friends and collaborators for many years. The band are currently based out of the Hudson River Valley of New York State.
Perkins has stated that he "loathe[s] the term singer-songwriter, because it reminds me of open-mic nights and coffee shops and lazy chord structures," subsequently stating that he would rather be referred to as "a recording artist."
