"Wounds We Carry" filmmaker Mike Siv will be in attendance at a screening of his film at Shine SF on Jan. 19.
Siv was six-years-old when he emigrated to San Francisco with his mother as refugees in 1983, leaving behind his father and brother. At age 24, he made the film "Refugee," about returning to Cambodia to meet them for the first time.
"Wounds We Carry" is his personal documentary following a group of Cambodians as they return to observe the Khmer Rouge trials.
"I'm making this film because 35 years later, our community is still seeking justice and trying to heal from the wounds left by this horrific genocide, one of the most brutal acts of violence in modern history," states Siv.

There will be a door fee of $20, and all proceeds will go towards funding and developing the film which is supported by the Center for Asian American Media.
