Wounded warrior wounded again by GOP Senators

Chuck Hagel is a Purple Heart veteran. Vets are accustomed to being abused by Congress.

Hagel didn’t have the best round in confirmation hearings. President Obama selected him for various reasons including 1) he’s a Republican, 2) he’s a decorated veteran, 3) he’s an accomplished Senator, and 4) his views are aligned with the President’s.

GOP Senators and House majority members don’t like the President and have been at war with him since being elected the first time, and now the second term. American voters see this and may rightly determine that come 2014, it is time for a change.

Needed is a cooperative and respectful government that we don’t have now. Since Senators have shown their malign allegiance, voters can move forward to replace them.

Will the wounded veteran recover to fight again? He has done it before with bullets flying. He can do it again against flapping lips.

Chuck Hagel’s bid to win confirmation as the next defense secretary cleared a major hurdle Tuesday by beating back a Republican effort to block his nomination almost two weeks after GOP senators launched a filibuster.

Following a 71 to 27 vote, the former Republican senator is now poised for a final confirmation vote later Tuesday or early Wednesday over Republican objections to his views on Middle East security.”
