For the women who admire Michelle Obama's campaign trail style, they can finally channel her fashion.
Nigerian-born designer by way of Britain, Duro Olowu--whose best known for his gorgeous, colorful prints--minted a collaboration with J.C. Penny for its spring 2013 collection.
Proving once and for all that African fashion has truly hit mainstream, Olowu's aesthetic is African-inspired colors set against very feminine pieces.
His prints include embellishments like bold geometric patterns, miniature animal silhouettes and organic doodles set against a vivacious African-influenced color palette of red, yellow, green, blue, black.
The spring collection features a 70-plus-piece collection that's big on apparel favorites like wrap dresses, cardigans, coats, blouses, trousers, sundresses, A-line skirts, and sweaters.
Looks aren't limited to apparel as the line carries accessories like clutches and totes, jewelry, and shoes, and features quirky vases, photo frames, rugs, and platters for a kitsch home decor.
With pieces priced from $10-$90, the collection isn't just for devotes of Olowu's abstract, tribal-inspired prints but for the budget-friendly shopper as well.
