The perpetrator of what investigating law enforcement officers called, “The worst case of domestic violence ever seen” (source) is scheduled to go to court this week. On Friday, October 26, David Johnson, Jr. of Shelbyville has a preliminary hearing. Johnson’s charges are especially aggravated kidnapping and especially aggravated rape. Johnson’s behavior - holding hostage, brutally beating, then stalking his wife - has proven he is a very dangerous man, and his mother and sister have shown they are not far behind.

A domestic violence awareness group has an online petition, addressing the General Sessions Judge Charles Rich, scheduled to be on the bench for Friday’s court date. Judge Rich will determine if there is enough evidence for Johnson Jr. to be bound over to the Bedford County grand jury November session. The petition requests “David Wayne Johnson, Jr., Mary Ann Johnson, and Sheila Ann Johnson (receive) the maximum punishment allowable by law when they come before you in court.” Johnson’s attorney called the petition a, “G—damned petition.” Many domestic violence victims, and people expressing prayers for the victim, signed the petition. Strangely, Johnson’s current girlfriend, his sister, and mother have all signed the petition.

At the Johnson’s preliminary hearing, David, Jr., his mother and sister were observed laughing at the victim. They displayed discourteous behavior once away from Honorable General Sessions Judge Rich’s court.

On July 4 of this year, David W. Johnson, Jr. had, allegedly, “attacked (his wife) with objects, held a gun to her chest so hard it has left an imprint of a gun barrel …cut all her clothing, photos and other personal items to pieces…” for several days (source). Their children, aged 7, 5, and 4, witnessed some of the abuse. Johnson sprayed his wife in the eyes and face with bug spray, dumped motor oil on her head, sexually assaulted her with numerous objects, beat her, and threw a knife at her. Johnson had called his mother and sister to pick up the children. Mary Ann Johnson, 55, and Sheila Ann Johnson, 22, arrived on the scene. They were later charged with Accessory. Johnson, Jr. bonded out to stalk the victim. Mary was later charged with stalking the victim. According to the victim, Johnson has a history of abusing her.

“This man (David Johnson, Jr.) is a fiend,” says a woman who is a domestic violence survivor and requested anonymity. “He is going to wind up killing someone. The warning signs are all there. How (Johnson’s current girlfriend, his sister & mother) can stand by his side is a slap in the face to all women; or else, they’re as stupid and sick as he is.”
