The worst bed bug cities have been revealed by Orkin, Inquisitr reports Jan. 18. These nasty pests are a major problem in some areas of the nation while others can rest easy that they don't have quite as many.
According to the report, Orkin ranks Chicago as the number one city having the worst case of bed bugs.
Number two as being one of the worst bed bug cities in the U.S. is Detroit -- followed by Los Angeles, Denver, and Cincinnati.
Next on the list is Columbus, Ohio, Washington, Cleveland/Akron/Canton, Dallas/Ft. Worth, and New York.
Orkin and eight other pest control services -- owned under the parent company of Rollins -- increased its business by 33 percent in 2012 over 2011. This definitely shows that bugs are a bigger problem in the nation than anyone would like. Bed bugs are among the most extreme in population. They are in just about everything. As the pest control company points out, bed bugs aren't just in bedrooms. They also thrive in kitchens, bathrooms, movie theaters, planes and physical fitness facilities. Ironically, they can also be found in hospitals.
Bed bugs can carry more than 30 human pathogens, but so far there's no evidence that they transmit diseases.
