‘World War Blue’ headed to North America from Seven Seas

In an announcement on Monday, manga and graphic novel publisher Seven Seas revealed that they would be bringing the fantasy manga series “World War Blue” to North America starting this July.

The nine-volume “World War Blue” manga series is written by Anastasia Shestakova and features art from Crimson. The series has also been adapted into an anime series produced by 5th Avenue. Much like the “Hyperdimension Neptunia” series of video games, “World War Blue” takes inspiration from the console wars, with the conflict represented by satirical versions of popular video game characters.

“World War Blue” takes place on the continent of Consume, where a war rages between the Segua Kingdom and the Ninteldo Empire. The story follows Gear, a young man who joins Segua’s Army in the hopes of getting revenge against the Ninteldo for the death of his brother. Enlisted into the Special Forces because of his incredible speed, the inexperienced youth may be the last great hope for the Segua Empire, which is losing ground to the Ninteldo Empire.

The first volume of “World War Blue” will be available from Seven Seas in July 2013. Volume 2 will follow in August and the third volume is slated for November.
