The "World Tree of Hope" is set to be unveiled this evening at San Francisco City Hall.
The 21-foot-tall tree is decorated with more than 12-thousand cranes hand folded by local volunteers as well as prisoners from San Quentin State Prison. Holiday wishes have been added to the cranes by local school children, President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom. Visitors will be able to add their own holiday wishes to the tree for the rest of the month.
The unveiling will begin at 5:30 p.m. this evening in the Rotunda with a performance by the San Francisco Boys Chorus and speeches from keynote speakers Clarence Jones and author Anne Lamott.
