NWA Houston is gearing up for a huge "Collision Course" event on September 20 at the Cypress VFW, headlined by an NWA World Heavyweight Championship match. Information has been released about the upcoming event, as you'll see below.
"Addictive and Expensive" Byron Wilcott has a golden opportunity in Cypress to pull off the Texas upset of the year. After winning the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Title in July, and successfully defending it last month, Wilcott now has his sights set on "Ironman" Rob Conway and the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. In a phone interview conducted on Tuesday afternoon, Wilcott was exuding confidence going into this match.
The day I won the NWA Lone Star Heavyweight Championship, the landscape changed in a way fans and wrestlers alike were not prepared for. Plans have been set in motion for me to ascend to the top of the NWA. Even I didn't know when it was going to happen, but I knew I would be ready.
I'm not trying to scare you...I'm attempting to wake you up to the facts. I'm going to do the impossible when I face the NWA World Heavyweight Champion Rob Conway. A change is going to happen and it's going to happen. Conway, you can't stop me...there will be a NWA World Champion, and he will be "Addictive and Expensive!"
Also at "Collision Course," fans will see an NWA Lone Star Tag Team title match, as The Kingz Of The Underground defend their gold against "Cowboy" James Claxton and Alex Reigns. Scot Summers and Ryan Genesis have been on an electric tear, plowing their way through Texas and staking their claim as one of the top teams in the state. But Claxton and Reigns are as tough as any other team they've ever faced, and will no doubt have pain on their agenda as they try to walk out of Cypress as the new champions.
If you haven't heard by now, Raymond "Death" Rowe recently signed a deal with Ring of Honor Wrestling. On September 20, he makes his return to Cypress as he will face off against "The Name That Entertains" Jasper Davis. Rowe is looking to expand his career to new heights, but Jasper is set on making sure he's at least battered and bruised along the way.
An old rivalry gets another piece of wood thrown into the fire at "Collision Course," as reigning and defending NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Champion Rudy Russo puts the gold on the line against former 2-time champion David "Super" Duperon. Last month, Russo regained the gold for the third time in a best two-out-of-three falls match, and looks to make a successful defense against a man he knows very well. Duperon knows what it takes to become champion, but can he slam the door on Russo's recent hot streak and walk out with the gold?
You will also see an appearance by former NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion "Modern Day Hero" Kevin Douglas, as he faces Texas legend Chaz Taylor. After his brutal attack on Carson several months back, he was spooked by what he thought was an appearance by Carson. During an August match against "One Man" Mike Dell, Carson's music started to play. Douglas immediately started looking around, but there was no sign of "The Texas Prodigy." Dell snuck up from behind and picked up the victory, leaving Douglas to wonder what just happened. Will we see Carson at "Collision Course," or will he continue to play mind games with Douglas?
All of this goes down at the Cypress VFW, located at 21902 Northwest Freeway (Hwy 290) in Cypress, Texas. Doors open at 6:30 P.M. with belltime set for 7:30 P.M.
