World Soccer Celebration in downtown Denver kicks off 2014 FIFA World Cup

Coinciding with the opening weekend of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the World Soccer Celebration presented by Western Union takes place in downtown Denver from June 13 – 16. The free event is open to the public and features live match broadcasts from Brazil, food and drink vendors, a beer garden, games and activities, and more.

All 13 of the weekend's matches—Monday's a national holiday, right?—, ending with the USMNT vs. Ghana on Monday, June 16, at 4 p.m. MT, will be shown on a 20-foot screen in Skyline Park near 16th Street Mall and at a secondary viewing area at the opposite end of the Park.

“Western Union is thrilled to work with the Rapids and all soccer fans in the Denver area to create a memorable event for the opening weekend of one of the world’s greatest sporting events,” said Laston Charriez, Western Union Senior Vice President, Americas Marketing. “The World Soccer Celebration will give fans a unique viewing experience where they can meet friends, enjoy the outdoors, and watch soccer at the highest level in the middle of downtown Denver.”

The Colorado Rapids will be partnering with local sponsors for additional viewing parties throughout Metro Denver. For updates and more info on the World Soccer Celebration, click here.
