World's longest cat dies of cancer at age 8

Stewie, the world's longest cat, has died in Nevada, according to a Feb. 5 CBS report. Stewie was eight years old.

Stewie the Cat was more than four feet long as measured nose to the end of his tail. For the past year, the world's longest cat had battled cancer. Unfortunately, he did not make it. As he lived his last moments, he was surrounded by his owner Robin Hendrickson and the rest of his family.

Stewie officially became the world's longest cat in August 2010 when Guinness measured him to at 48.5 inches. He was also a certified therapy animal, and he spent time with ailing seniors in the region.

Stewie the Cat's Facebook page has become a place for people to remember him. His owner Robin Hendrickson said,

"Stewie was always very social and loved meeting new people. He has touched many lives, and for that I am grateful."

This incredibly long cat certainly touched many people when he was alive, and it is obvious he will be missed. His official name was Mymains Stewart Gilligan. He certainly lived up to his long name.
