The World's Largest Truck Convoy is a one-day International celebration happening across the country and into Canada, that helps raise money for Special Olympics. This year's Truck Convoy is a project of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics.
This one-day celebration of the trucking industry helps raise money for Special Olympics. Last year 1,700 truckers participated in convoys in the U.S. and Canada and raised more than $643,000 for the Special Olympics.
To participate, truckers simply donate a $100 entry fee send a completed registration form to their meet at the staging location and convoy to a predetermined site such as a fairground, truck stop, or raceway.
Utah truckers will start their convoy at noon Saturday September 12, from DATS Trucking in North Salt Lake where lunch is servered and then convoy to Rocky Mountain Raceway. Participants will receive tickets to the race and there are additional activities. Additional information and registration forms are located here, or you can call Lyn Rees at 801-860-2179.
At that destination they will be welcomed by Special Olympics athletes, families, friends, colleagues, law enforcement officers, the Special Olympics community, and the organizations, companies and agencies that make up the trucking industry.
The Kansas convoy begins at the Mitten TA Travel Plaza at 10 a.m. Registration information and more details are found here or by calling Joe Mentlick at 785-443-1682.
Louisiana will also hold an early convoy on Sept. 19. Click here for details of that event.
