World's Largest Irish Coffee To Be Served To San Francisco Faithful

Served piping hot, with the signature cream on top, the world’s largest Irish Coffee will soon be unveiled at the birthplace of the iconic cocktail – the historic Buena Vista Café at Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco.  The world-record worthy Irish Coffee will be one of the central attractions of a three day celebration taking place November 8, 9 and 10 commemorating the 56th anniversary of the Buena Vista Café’s famous creation.

Buena Vista Café’s Irish Coffee festival will include Irish food and music, Celtic dancers, celebrity bartenders, drawings for giveaways, Irish toasts, cake and a special appearance by Frank Silletti -–2003 Irish Coffee Making World Champion at the annual competition in Foynes, Ireland. In addition, the Buena Vista will be releasing the first shipment of Tullamore Dew® Official Buena Vista Irish Whiskey.

“Irish Coffee should be considered a San Francisco original along with the Golden GateBridge or CoitTower,” said Michael Carden, general manager of Buena Vista Café.  “It has become as much of a tradition in San Francisco as sourdough bread and Dungeness crab. The Buena Vista has served an estimated 37,010,000 Irish Coffees since its inception 56 years ago.”

There is no better way to celebrate this cocktail legend than to let as many people as possible raise a toast at one time. So, Buena Vista Café will be creating the world’s largest Irish Coffee to share with its patrons.  Towering more than 3 feet from the bar and holding more than 15 gallons, bartenders will be going after the Guinness World Record crafting a giant Irish Coffee that everyone in attendance will get to sample.  The unveiling of the world’s largest Irish Coffee will take place at Buena Vista Café on Nov 10 at 1 pm.
