World renowned sculptress Cybele Rowe has launched her limited edition scarves and has pledged to donate a percentage of profits to the charity, Free The Slaves.
Montana Avenue came a to a halt yesterday when Australian sculptress Cybele Rowe debuted her silk chiffon scarves at Platino on Montana Avenue. Known for her large scale clay and bronze sculptures, Rowe has been one off the most talked about artists on the sculpture scene, her works have appeared in museums all over the world, some say she is the leading female of her genre for this generation. Her latest venture into scarves are based on her large scale designs, the perfect solution for art fans who cannot own a piece of her sculpture and are not as fortunate as Halle Berry and Will Smith who proudly display her work in their homes. The scarves are not just any scarves, they are also limited edition, they are each labelled that they are one of a series of 20. Her first two collections are a series of blues/greens called Elements of Water and the red/orange series are called Elements of Fire.
Always the humanitarian, Rowe has committed to donating a percentage of her profits to a charity called Free The Slaves, a cause she strongly believes in. She said, "I am so excited to be a part of Free the Slaves. It covers all ages genders, races and religions. I totally am aligned with the consciousness of equality in all forms. I hope I sell a many scarves over the years and the benefits of producing art for 30 years can be of help to humans in need. For a hundred years, slavery has been illegal, and yet 27 million people are slaves, I find it incomprehensible, we need to make this stop."
At her launch she explained her new venture, "I had a dream in which my sculptures were moving, all I could see was color and movement, it was beautiful, and therefore the inspiration was born, I am so thrilled to launch them at Platino on Montana Avenue, the colors of the Ocean and the sunsets here, truly reflect my style and vision. To use beauty and hopefully help erase cruelty, is surely a form of good beating evil."
