Back in November, we revealed that NHL star Georges Laraque and the Earthlings production team were hard at work creating a French language narration for the film. The work is now complete and the world premiere of Terriens takes place this coming Friday at UQÀM.
Terriens/Earthlings is a powerful, award-winning documentary that examines our exploitation of animals for food, fashion, pets, entertainment and research. With a moving musical score by Moby, it's been called the 'Hammer of Thor' by the Vegan Freaks for its ability to create 'instant' vegans. It was Earthlings that led Laraque to go vegan in 2009, and he has since been very active in promoting veganism.
Terriens will be screened at UQÀM on Friday, 8 January 2010. Both Laraque and director Shaun Monson, in from L.A., will be present, and signed DVDs will be available for $15. [edit: also present will be Maxime Lapierre, Marc-André Bergeron, and Benoit Pouliot of the Canadiens de Montréal, and humorist Rachid Badouri.] Admission is free and no reservations are required. This film is not recommended for those under 16.
And check out the promotional video, with a surprise appearance from Laraque himself.
Laraque is also running a contest on his official website for a draw to win a signed jersey, a hockey stick and a pair of tickets to a hockey match. See his website for more details.
