An Emmy Award-winning journalist stumbles on a plot unlike any that she has seen before. Based on a true story, playwright Kathrine Bates crafts this stunning account of lust, lies and fantasies. Directed by Beverly Olevin this world premiere production of “Talhotblond” opens on Friday, March 7, 2014 at Ruskin Group Theatre. Sex and obsession, indulged through an erotic relationship on the Internet leads to explosive consequences, becoming a cautionary tale for the times we live in.

Once in every journalist’s career there comes a story that towers above all others. This is it.

Bates says, “Chills went up my arm when I first heard this ‘ripped from the headlines’ story. Barbara Schroeder approached me about turning her documentary, into what could be a smashing theater piece. It was edgy, contemporary, and I became immediate passionate about creating the play.”

The cast includes Julia Arian (as Gwen Montgomery), Mary Carrig (as Rose Shieler), Lane Compton (as Alan Garrett/Alternate), Ben Gavin (as Tommy Marine Sniper), John-Paul Lavoisier (as Alan Garrett/Alternate), Kathleen O’Grady (as Cheryl Montgomery), Erin Elizabeth Patrick (as Jenny the THB), Mark Rimer (as Thomas Montgomery) and Oscar Rodriguez (as Pete).

“Talhotblond” opens 8 p.m. Friday, March 7 and performs 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through April 26. Tickets are $25, $20 for students, seniors and guild members. Call 310-397-3244.

Ruskin Group Theatre is located at 300 Airport Avenue in Santa Monica. Free parking is available at the theater.
