For a competition that has not been held since 2009, this year's International Challenge Cup sure boasts a strong field of skaters, a few of which are expected to be top contenders for the World podium just over two weeks later at the World Figure Skating Championships. As previously reported, U.S. Figure Skating will be sending two of its best, three-time U.S. champion Jeremy Abbott and two-time U.S. champion Alissa Czisny.

On the men's side, Abbott's biggest competition will be the top two from France, former World champion Brian Joubert and former European champion Florent Amodio. 2009 champion Samuel Contesti will also be in the field.
In the ladies' competition, Czisny and European champion Carolina Kostner will be going head-to-head again for the third time for the fourth time this season. Czisny edged Kostner out for the Skate America title, but Kostner won their next two meetings at Trophee Eric Bompard and the Grand Prix Final. Sweden's Viktoria Helgesson, recently fifth at the European Championships, will be looking for a medal as well.
The International Challenge Cup will be held in The Hague on March 8-11. A full list of entries can be found on the Dutch skating federation website.
