Not too long ago, Blizzard Activision released information about their plans about "other revenue streams" for their successful MMO, World of Warcraft. Late last week, one of their forum employees may have dropped the ball on something that could turn into a new micro-transaction system for their MMO.
During the public announcement of a new Web Auction House (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=22748781945&sid=1) for World of Warcraft, a community manager dropped this:
""It's important to note here that certain elements of the service will be premium-based, which we'll go into more detail on once the service functionality is finalized"
World of Warcraft has had a massive amount of success with subscription based payments, and this newest possibility may turn out to be a second subscription tier. On the other hand, Blizzard Activision may be trying out their hand in the micro-transactions market.
