Are you a dog or cat lover? Maybe you prefer birds or fish. Do you enjoy exotic pets? Other than the Maryland Zoo, which has 'more than 1,500 birds, mammals, amphibians and reptiles, representing nearly 200 species', where can you enjoy a fun-filled day for the entire family and see both domestic and exotic animals?

On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, January 28-30, 2011, The World of Pets Expo will be held at the Maryland State Fairgrounds.

'Some of the country’s foremost authorities in the pet industry will present seminars and demonstrations covering practically every aspect of pet care and training. Pets covered in these seminars include dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, ferrets and other animals.'

Learn how to groom your cat's nails, groom their fur (short or long-haired) and how to administer medicines from the Maryland Feline Society.

Meet a 'hero dog', service dogs for America's heroes. 'Hero Dogs Inc. trains and places service dogs with military veterans who have been injured and/or disabled while serving in the U.S. Armed Forces.'

Meet Janice Wolfe, Founder of Merlin's Kids.

Ms. Wolfe discusses the connection to animals and children with autism and other special needs.

Other events include K9 dogs and pony shows, exotic reptiles, birds, turtles, gerbils, and much more.

A petting zoo is included in your admission. Pony rides are available for an additional fee.

Hours of the expo are Friday, January 28, 2011 from 2-8 PM,
