If you’re looking for a little excitement this weekend, get ready to ditch the clothes and grab a hose! According to a May 2 article published by The Guardian, a worldwide event is just a few hours away and folks around the globe are ready to get their hands dirty! On the heels of No Pants Day, May 3, 2014, is World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD), an international event observed each year on the first Saturday in May.

World Naked Gardening Day 2014

Mark Storey and a few friends created the event about 10 years back and the event has continued to grow ever since. And this year, some folks are taking it all off for charity. The Grubby Gardeners are baring it all for the charity group, Perennial, a group that provides assistance to people in the horticulture business in times of need. If you’d like to help, just post a selfie (either in the buff or clothed) to Twitter using #gardeningselfie and donate by texting GRUB89 to 70070.

After a long winter, chances are pretty good your garden needs a little T.L.C. right about now, right? WNGD is the perfect day to plant a few flowers, pull a few weeds and trim those bushes in the buff. Grab the hoe and gloves and get ready to frolic in the garden in the all-together. Plus, naked gardening is not only loads of fun, but it allows us to feel closer to Mother Nature. So why not celebrate this "tongue-in-cheek" holiday by doing a little gardening wearing nothing but a smile! Just be sure not to "butt" up next to a cactus or rose bush!

Please note - it may be against the law to bare it all in your neck-of-the-woods. Please consult your local ordinances or laws before participating.

And speaking of special occasions, the first Saturday in May is also Free Comic Book Day and the Kentucky Derby, too.
