The 6th annual San Francisco Salsa Festival is coming next month, and the event promises to be one of the biggest yet, featuring some of the top salsa dancers from around the world.

Of note are Rafael Barros and Carine Morais of Brazil, who hold multiple world titles including the 2013 World Salsa Open in Puerto Rico and the 2013 World Latin Dance Cup in the On1 division. Another noted world champion who will be performing and competing at the event is Omar Muñoz, who won the On1 division of the WLDC in 2012.

In addition to the outside talent, the event will feature many local Bay Area instructors who themselves hold world titles, including Luis Aguilar (2-time world salsa champion) and his Couture Dance Alliance, and Ricardo and Tianne from SF, who are multple-time World Salsa Championship finalists.

The event is organized by Salsamania Dance Company (themselves the current reigning world champions at the WLDC), and this will be the sixth year that the event has been in existence. Similar in concept to the San Francisco Salsa Congress (which is held in November), the SF Salsa Festival is a 3-day salsa extravaganza featuring dance lessons, performances, competitions, and dancing until the wee hours of the morning.

In addition to the performances and lessons, the event will feature live salsa music from top local bands including Avance, Saboricua, and the grammy-award winning Pacific Mambo Orchestra. A new feature of the event this year is a "Pachanga challenge", where attendees can learn a full pachanga routine from Los Pachangueros and perform it on Saturday night.

Tickets for the event are still available from the event website, and the prices are offered for a discounted price until April 18th.
