In an effort to promote breastfeeding awareness and support breastfeeding families, World Breastfeeding Week (WBW) officially takes place from August 1st until August 7, 2010. Celebrated in more than 170 countries, a variety of events and activities will take place all over the world.
Supporting the early days and weeks when mom and baby take those very first steps in developing a breastfeeding relationship, this year’s WBW theme is “Just 10 Steps: The Baby-Friendly Way”
Breastfeeding is a personal decision made by millions of mothers around the world. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), breastfeeding is the best way to provide newborns with the nutrients they need and recommends exclusive breastfeeding until a baby is six months old.
