March 19-23: Military Museum of Fort Worth, open 10 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, 712 Dorothy Lane, Fort Worth, 76107. Admission is free. Closed major holidays. The museum focus is the military as it pertains to Texas veterans. March 19-23: Texas Civil War Museum is open 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Tuesday-Saturday, closed major holidays, 760 Jim Wright Freeway North, Fort Worth, 76108. Adult admission is $6, students ages 7-12 are $3 and children 6 and under are free with adult admission. This is the largest Civil War museum west of the Mississippi. March 23: The Beginners Workshop is a series of eight free presentations sponsored by the Fort Worth Genealogical Society that are open to the public. The sessions are offered on the fourth Saturday (not the last Saturday) of the month from January through August. Workshops are held at the Fort Worth Public Library (main downtown branch) from 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. This month’s topic is “Researching at the County Courthouse.” This session describes records available at the county with explanations of each, legal terms, places these records can be found (publications, Family History Centers), how to find the correct county and county seat, etc. Contact terri.meeks@sbcglobal.net

Through April 30, 2013: HOGAR de Dallas, a Spanish genealogical organization, will award one scholarship of $1,000 to a high school graduating senior who submits a pedigree chart and essay that follows the assigned criteria. Essay will be published in HOGAR journal.
