Working with angels and elementals

As fires continue to rage out of control in California, a lot of people are praying, including Governor Schwartzenegger, who's running out of money. You might wonder why their prayers aren't being answered. Are the angels on strike? In my article on angels, I wrote that angels can guide and inspire us if we call to them and are receptive to them. But some new age spiritual leaders think of them as our errand boys to help us acquire riches, love, and power or save our property from fire damage.

For example, the other day, I received an email from someone selling angel family trees. She wrote: " Once you learn how to communicate with your personal angels, you will never have to experience fear, depression, or worries of any kind.  Your personal family of angels will always guide you to fulfillment and satisfaction or bring someone to help you. Your very own personal Angel Family Tree Revelations - speak directly and effectively to your personal angels!  Wayne, for the first time in your life, you will know which angels dwell in your Angel Family Tree. There are 11 in all and each of them has different gifts to give you: Your Life Angel helps you enjoy life. He'll make you laugh and smile, he'll bring you happiness and new friends. Your Love Angel will guide you to those who will love and please you. He'll fill any emptiness with romance and mystery! Your Power Angel builds up your inner resources. He'll give you strength and keep you away from those who want to weaken you. Your Health Angel opens the healing forces in your body. He'll boost your immune system and help you maintain your physical fitness and a healthy glow. Your Good Fortune Angel attracts you to favorable events and alerts you to opportunities that are around you. Your Success Angel will give your life abundance and prosperity and direct you toward those who appreciate and reward you. Your Home Angel protects your home and your family happiness.  He'll keep positive forces in and negative ones out. Your Protector Angel surrounds you with white light.  He'll protect you from all harm. In emergencies, he'll alert others to come to your aid. Your Purpose Angel helps you find and express your unique purpose and special talents in life. Your Destiny Angel will point you in the right direction to meet the right people and accomplish all that you were meant to in life. Your Guardian Angel is your truest friend who knows and loves you best."

I had no desire to find out how to call upon these 11 angels so they could satisfy my desires. That's black magic, and the only angels that will cooperate in that are fallen angels. You may get what you want, but you'll have to pay a price.

Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov said, "If you ask heavenly entities to come and satisfy your desires and lusts, you cut yourself off from the ascending current, which connects you, through the angelic hierarchies, to God. It is you who must serve the higher beings, the angels, archangels and the Deity, for that is the natural order of things. Everywhere in nature you will find a summit and a base, a head and a tail, and it’s the tail that must follow the head, not the other way round. When you pray to heaven, ask it to take you into its service, not to come down and serve you."

In the pyramid of heirarchy, we are in the middle with the angels above us and the elementals below us. These are the nature spirits that take care of the minerals, plants and animals: gnomes of the earth, sylphs of the air, undines of the waters, and salamanders of the fire element. But just because the elementals are here to serve us doesn't mean we can use them to satisfy our greed and sensuality. Again this is black magic.

Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov also said in The Book of Divine Magic, "It is possible to communicate with the creatures that inhabit nature and the elements and collaborate with them in different kinds of work.... When you are out of doors, in the midst of nature, try to aware of the presence of all these spirits which inhabit the earth... Try to make contact with them and speak to them, to admire the great beauty of the work they do on earth and under the earth, in water and air... Ask them to come and help those who are working for love and light and peace, for the establishment of the kingdom of God on earth."

If we do this, we can become white magicians. During the Yellowstone fires of the summer of 1988, I was living on the Royal Teton Ranch, headquarters of Church Universal and Triumphant just a few miles north of the park. One day, one of the fires was heading for a piece of land the Church held sacred. I and about 200 other staff members were bused to the land to pray for it's protection. The wind was blowing the fire up a ridge on the other side of the property. Fire fighters retreated because the fire was out of control. They stopped by our group to warn us that once the fire topped the ridge it could be upon us in minutes. But we stood our ground, praying to the sylphs to turn the wind around and blow the fire away from us. After several more minutes the wind shifted 180 degrees, the firemen returned and put out the fire, one of the few that were contained that summer.

This impressed me with the power of prayer and the reality of elementals. But a more impressive story is that during another summer, the Bonfin, the spiritual community that Omraam Mikhael Aivanhov was the spiritual head of, was threatened by a forest fire. He did not bus the members of his community to the front lines to fight the fire with prayer. He quietly asked the sylphs to please turn the wind around and drive the fire away. He didn't demand them and his motive was so that the Bonfin could continue its work, establishing God's kingdom upon earth. Immediately the wind shifted. That's the power of a white magician who is a master.

We can call upon elementals any time by blessing the elements. When serving a meal, ask them to enter the food and drink so you and your family may be strengthened to do God's will. When planting seeds, ask them to charge them so the plants will be more nourishing for the same purpose. When you light a candle, consecrate it by asking the salamanders to charge it with the warmth of God's love from the spiritual sun. When you're by a body of water, ask the undines to inspire swimmers and boaters, to influence their minds and hearts, to become better people.

In this way the elementals work with us, just as we work with the angels when we do good deeds. And together, the three kingdoms: elemental, human and angelic, cooperate to establish God's kingdom upon earth.
