WorkCamp 2013 Meetings Are Underway

The first of several WorkCamp 2013 meetings was held this past Sunday in the Pastoral Wing of Christ the Redeemer. Several youth and adults were in attendance. This year the Arlington Diocesan WorkCamp will take place in the Shenandoah Valley from June 22-28, 2013.

WorkCamp offers youth and adults a week-long opportunity for Christian service outside of their daily comfort zone. Construction projects, fellowship, and worship enable participants to "walk the walk" of catholic social teaching, have a greater awareness of the needs of others in our society and develop a deeper sense of solidarity.

WorkCamp meetings for 2013 at the church will generally be on the second Sunday of each month leading up to the June WorkCamp date. The meetings are between the 8AM and 10AM morning mass so that families can attend Sunday mass before or after the meeting.

As in years passed, the parish fundraising and support is welcome. Greater and more diverse youth and adult participation is also welcome. Sue Hinko is the main contact for Christ the Redeemer Church and can be reached at 703-435-1343 or sue.hinko@gmail.com.
