Work will set you free

If you want to know what people intend to do, all you need to do is listen to their words and believe that they mean what they say. Barack Obama said he wanted to fundamentally change America and he has. Nancy Pelosi said she would take control of our healthcare decisions regardless of opposition, and she did. Politicians have been subtly telling us for years that our money does not belong to us and Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa said so in open session last week.

Harkin, a former Democrat presidential candidate and member-for-life in our imperial senate, boldly told Americans last week that the federal government does not have a spending problem. According to Harkin, despite the fact that the US Government has spent 16 trillion dollars of borrowed money, the problem is not that the government spends too much. Harkin said,

“We’re the richest nation in the history of the world. That kind of begs the question doesn’t it? If we’re so rich, why are we so broke? Is it a spending problem? No, it’s because we have a misallocation of capital, a misallocation of wealth. All of this wealth that’s been built up by hard-working Americans has been accumulated into fewer and fewer hands… It’s the lack of revenue that we should be taking in to meet our obligations as a country.”

The arrogance and ignorance of our political masters defies comprehension. Firstly, America is not the richest country in the world; in fact, we are just the opposite. The United States is the largest debtor nation on the Earth. Harkin is so arrogant, that he publicly proclaims that government does not spend too much, the problem is that the wealth generated by the people is “misallocated” because too much of it is being retained by the people who earned it. The “fewer and fewer hands” part has no bearing whatsoever on government revenue, but is provided as part of the “pay your fair share” socialism made fashionable by the current regime in DC.

According to Harkin, the government just needs to “reallocate” money away from the wealth creators and wage earners of the country and into the US treasury to solve the problem. The only hitch – aside from the criminal mindset on display – is that the government’s debt exceeds the entire Gross Domestic Product of our country. That means that if the government were to seize every penny of wealth created this year, they would still have a debt of more than a trillion dollars; and they’re adding more than a trillion dollars to it every year.

Harkin has aptly stated, for all to hear, that the government believes your money belongs to them. Just as they will tell you that cutting taxes has to be “paid for” and that a tax break is a “subsidy” and spending your tax dollars to fund dysfunctional businesses run by campaign donors is “investment.” If you want to know what people intend to do, listen to their words. Harkin and the rest of the authoritarians in government believe you and your money are the property of the state – and they will never stop until they have consumed your wealth and subsumed your very existence into the their collective.

Congress already takes all the income you earn from January through mid April in taxes, and has openly discussed seizing your 401k accounts, instituting military conscription, mandatory community service, and confiscating your firearms. You think they don’t mean it? Consider what one of President Obama’s former top advisors, Cass Sunstein, said about your money;

“In what sense is the money in our pockets and bank accounts fully ‘ours’? Did we earn it by our own autonomous efforts? Could we have inherited it without the assistance of probate courts? Do we save it without support from bank regulators? Could we spend it (say, on the installment plan) if there were no public officials to coordinate the efforts and pool the resources of the community in which we live?…Without taxes there would be no liberty. There is no liberty without dependency. That is why we should celebrate tax day.”

“There is no liberty without dependency.” If such a statement from a high government official does not chill you to the bone, you deserve the fate they have in store for you. This is the exact corollary to one of the slogans of the socialist party if George Orwell’s 1984, “FREEDOM IS SLAVERY.” They tell you the only way to be truly free is to be totally dependent upon your masters in government, and to work to pay taxes in tribute to all they do for you. Arbeit Macht Frei.
