Lance Whitney has reported for CNET News "WordPress bloggers will now be able to earn a few bucks on their blogs courtesy of advertising." WordPress is kicking off a new feature which is called WordAds, according to a blog which was recently posted by WordPress ads lead Jon Burke. WordPress will soon display advertisements on qualifying blogs, allowing their owners to earn some cash from each ad, in partnership with a company called Federated Media.
Burke has said that more than 50,000 WordPress-powered blogs pop up each day, "and every time I explore them randomly I'm always surprised and delighted by how people are using the platform to express themselves." The firm has said the new WordAds feature will be optional and is geared toward bloggers who want to earn money by allowing only "high-quality" ads to appear on their blogs. Only publicly viewable WordPress blogs with custom domains will be able to join the advertising program. Bloggers who want to participate in this option to earn money via advertising on Wordpress can always sign up for a custom domain.
