Jennifer, of Phoenix asks, "I have many older documents in Word in which someone created manual bullets and columns. Is there a way to delete these without manually deleting each individual bullet?"
I've always been one to teach shortcuts and this one is no exception. This Word selection tip can help clean up documents.
Not all users understand how to setup Word documents with bullets. Word has created functionality to automatically understand when users are trying to create bullets. However, there still may be older documents that have manual bullets that were not converted into proper bullets. Deleting these could be time consuming without this tip.
See the text below for an example.
^ Bullet manually inserted position one
^ Bullet inserted as position two
^ This is the third inserted bullet
If this was a list of twenty bullets, it would take twenty different steps to delete the bullets.
Use this Word tip to delete the bullets quickly and easily.
Simply press and hold the "ALT" key and use the mouse to highlight the text vertically. Word allows you to highlight the bullets in a vertical alignment and press the "DELETE" key.
Voila! The manual bullets are now deleted. This now allows users to highlight the text and use the bullet button on the toolbar to setup bullets correctly and to match the rest of your company's document styles.
Word selection tips like this will help you become a gifted user of Word.
