Wootton, Flanagan lead Drexel comeback over Hofstra

After trailing 31-16 at the half, the Drexel Dragons (11-4, 4-0 CAA) came roaring back to defeat the Hofstra Pride, 59-53, on Thursday night. This was the second straight Thursday night 15-point comeback for the Dragons as they accomplished the same feat in a 48-46 win over James Madison a week ago.

Senior forward Taylor Wootton poured in a career-high 24 points to lead the way and Nicki Jones and Fiona Flanagan each had 10 points.

With Drexel trailing 50-45 with just over three minutes to play, Flanagan hit two three's from the right corner on consecutive possessions to give Drexel it's first lead of the game at 51-50. Before that, Wootton was red hot hitting shots from all over the floor, scoring 16 of her 24 points in the second period.

As a team, the Dragons shot only 26% in the first half compared to 48% for Hofstra. The tide certainly turned in the second half with Drexel shooting 58% and Hofstra at only 32%.

Drexel will head back on the road to Williamsburg, Virginia to face the William & Mary Tribe on Sunday afternoon.
