Wooten and T-Yanks defeat Manatees 2-1

The Tampa Yankees were back at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Monday evening to begin a three game series against the Brevard County Manatees. LHP Eric Wooten (ERA 2.11) took the start as the T-Yanks were able to secure the 2-1 victory.

Tampa got on the board first as they took an early 2-0 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning. With bases loaded Angelo Gumbs hit a 2 run single sending both Cito Culver and Dante Bichette.

Jake Cave went 2 for 4 on the night with a double and Bichette was also 2 for 4 on Monday as well.

Wooten pitched six innings allowing 8 hits but just 1 run and struck out 3 batters which was enough to secure the win (2-0). RHP Zach Woods (ERA 2.16) pitched a no hit 7th inning striking out 2 of the batters he faced. In the 8th inning RHP Phil Wetherell (ERA 0.00) allowed just one hit and LHP James Pazos (ERA 6.75) closed out the 9th inning with just 2 hits allowed earning the save, his first of the year.

The Tampa Yankees will take on the Manatees in the second game of the series on Tuesday night at 7:00pm with Rafael De Paula (ERA 2.51, 2-1) taking the start for Tampa against Brevard’s Jed Bradley (ERA 4.70, 2-1).
