Woody Allen to pen response to Dylan Farrow’s sex abuse claims in open letter

Woody Allen is set to publish a response to his estranged daughter Dylan Farrow’s claims that he abused her when she was a child. On Feb. 5, Us Weekly reported that the legendary “Annie Hall” director will post a rebuttal to Farrow’s scathing open letter published by the New York Times last week.

New York Times public editor Margaret Sullivan posted a column which revealed: “Woody Allen has asked for, and may get, a chance to respond- in an Op-Ed piece in the Times.”

"They asked and we said, 'Yes, send it in,’” Andrew Rosenthal, The Times' editorial page editor said.

Rosenthal added that while publishing a rebuttal isn’t the norm for the paper, an exception should be made in this high profile case. "It comes down to the editing process" as a full Op-Ed piece he said. "Normally, we don't publish a direct response. In this case, it was so personal, we thought that we should."

The allegations that Allen sexually molested his then-7-year-old daughter more than two decades ago have divided the family.

People posted a statement from Moses Farrow, the 36-year old son of Allen and Mia Farrow, in which he stands by his father and blames his mother for brainwashing his sister.

"My mother drummed it into me to hate my father for tearing apart the family and sexually molesting my sister," Moses told the magazine. "And I hated him for her for years. I see now that this was a vengeful way to pay him back for falling in love with Soon-Yi.”

In an appearance on “The Today Show,” Allen’s attorney Elkin Abramowitz echoed a similar sentiment, saying, "[Dylan] was a pawn in a huge fight between him and Mia Farrow years ago, and the idea that she was molested was implanted in her by her mother."

Mia Farrow took to twitter to defend herself: "I love my daughter. I will always protect her,” she wrote. “A lot of ugliness is going to be aimed at me. But this is not about me, it's about her truth."

Meanwhile, Dylan Farrow said of her estranged brother, Moses: “My brother is dead to me.”
