AMF Woodlake Lanes in Woodland Hills is not going to let the adults have all the fun.
The bowling center is planning a “Have a Ball” League to entice children ages 21 and under to share in the competition.
The league will begin next week and kids can choose among three starting dates for the 12-week program: Tuesday (April 9), Wednesday (April 10) or Friday (April 12). The three-games-a-day action will cost $12 per session or $144 altogether.
Competition will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and 4 p.m. on Fridays.
House balls and shoes will be provided. At the end of the 12 weeks, each kid will receive his or her own free bowling ball.
“This is considered a league so kids get perks [for joining],” said Sami Rice, one of the league’s coordinators. “You can get 20 percent off soft drinks and 20 percent off popcorn. And if you want to come for practice, it’ll cost $2.09 a game per person.”
Rice said she was hoping to attract at least 10 kids for each of the three days.
“It’ll be a healthy education for kids on how the game is played and they’ll also be learning about sportsmanship,” Rice said.
“It gives kids a sense of competition and how to have a sportsmanlike attitude. If you win, you win, if you lose, you lose, but everyone is a winner. It’s all about learning about the game and having a great time.”
