Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Blacksmiths, and Birds all in Charlotte this weekend

Looking for family fun this weekend?

The On Stage School of Performing Arts (Charlotte) will present the musical, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz at the McGlohon Theatre (345 North College St.) on Saturday at 3pm.  Tickets are available at and are $8-12 each.   This performance is geared for younger audiences and is appropriate for everyone.

Also, this weekend, Historic Latta Planatation (5225 Sample Road, Huntersville) will present the Art of the Blacksmith.  Watch a traditional craftsman bang and shape tools with his hands and a hot fire.  Demonstrations are all day long at this historic landmark just north of Charlotte.  The event is free with admission to the park ($6/adults, $5/students, children under 5 free.)

While you're near Latta Plantation, also consider a visit to the Carolina Raptor Center.  Take a self guided tour and visit with more than 20 different species of raptor.  Also, watch live bird presentations on Sat. (11:00 a.m, 1:00p.m., 3:00 p.m.) and Sun. (1:00 p.m. & 3:00 p.m.), but also be aware that this weekend a special "Behind The Scenes Tour" will be offered at 2pm for an additional $5 fee (above admission prices). (This type tour is always offered the first weekend of the month.)
