The last days of pregnancy are a perfect time to celebrate your pregnancy and your new baby. Here are some ways to remember these days and memorialize that amazing belly.
- Do a photo shoot. While you can hire a professional photographer for this, it can be even more special if your partner or your older children take the photos.
- Do a belly casting. You can buy the supplies at local craft stores like Michael's in Mankato, and then paint it or leave it as is. Do a google image search for lots of inspiration.
- Henna your belly. This non-toxic body art will last for a few days and can be a beautiful way to celebrate your belly. Here's a bit of inspiration for designs and here are some basic instructions. You can buy natural henna at some natural food stores like the St. Peter Coop or order it online. You can even find kits like this one on etsy.
- Let your kids decorate your belly with washable markers. This has been a tradition in our family with every baby, and my children got a great kick out of decorating my belly and then posing together with the finished masterpiece.
- Take part in a Mother Blessing. This baby shower alternative is sometimes called a Blessingway and is a wonderful way for special people in your life to offer support, guidance and a little bit of fun before your baby comes. Read more about traditional Mother Blessing components here.
These are just a few of the ways you can mark this special time.
That amazing belly of yours will be changing soon, along with your family. Take advantage of its size and beauty (yes, beauty!) now in a way that you can hold onto long after your baby arrives.
