Wonder Woman IS coming to tv – surprise turnaround by NBC

In a surprise announcement, David E. Kelley’s “Wonder Woman” series has been picked up by NBC after first being turned down a week ago.  It seems after Angela Bromstad, head of programming, announced she was leaving on Thursday, the new regime has now been put in place and Robert Greenblatt decided to go with the female superhero.  Yea!

The pilot will most likely air along with other pilots this fall.  But will it be the Diana Prince/Wonder Woman we know?  Well, here’s what Deadline Hollywood reports:

The project is described as a reinvention of the iconic D.C. comic in which Wonder Woman -- aka Diana Prince -- is a vigilante crime fighter in L.A. but also a successful corporate executive and a modern woman trying to balance all of the elements of her extraordinary life.

With this being the final season for Smallville, a new DC superhero – a female one – is just what all us scifi geeks have been waiting for.  And if Wonder Woman is a hit, and it should be, it will lead the way for more shows based on comic books, like Marvel’s proposed reboot of “The Incredible Hulk” with Guillermo Del Toro controlling the reins.
