Won't You be a Teja's Valentine?

On Sunday, February 17, 2013, at 8:00 pm, there will be a fundraiser bash sponsored, and held at the “The Brass Monkey,” in Ottawa, Ontario, to help “Teja’s Animal Refuge.” (Teja’s). All the proceeds from the event will be donated to the animals and the compassionate woman, whom cares for all her recused family. “Teja’s Animal Refuge” is an animal sanctuary, in Alexandria, Ontario, that was founded by Nicole Joncas, in 1992. Teja’s maintains a non-profit charitable status, and became incorporated on January 21, 2004.

Any work that needs to be done to help look after the animals comes from the time, and efforts of Nicole Joncas, and her volunteers. Joncas, who in the later years of her life, and with very little financial resources, still uses every ounce of energy she has to keep the animals well fed and looked after, while at the same time scouts for more animals to be rescued, to either live with her, or to be placed in loving homes.

Although, Nicole Joncas has help from volunteers to look after the animals, the costs of feed, medicine, hay, straw, blacksmith, and veterinary care is enormous. At the present time “Teja’s Animal Refuge,” is home to more than sixty animals, all who need proper nutrition, and care. These animals would not be alive today, if it were not for the existence of Teja’s, and with the financial support from public donations. Teja’s does not receive any government funding, therefore, it is only with the help of financial aid from caring individuals that Joncas can keep providing the necessities that these animals deserve.

“Won’t You be a Teja’s Valentine?” and come out to help all the animals that live at Teja’s Animal Refuge? Tickets are $10.00, and can be purchased at the door. All monies from the entrance fee will also be donated to Teja’s.

The fundraiser bash at “The Brass Monkey,” will showcase four high-energy bands, that have generously donated their time and talent. Also, at the event here will be a silent auction, exotic and wild nail painting by Caroline Cyr, and a variety of door prizes.
