Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park, near Hazard, will host a Women’s Wellness Weekend on October 11 through October 13, 2013.
Holistic activities will include relaxation techniques, exercise programs, and dance that can be adapted to all levels. There will also be health education sessions offered throughout the weekend.
The park is offering a package deal for women attending this event that includes fees for the programs and an overnight stay for $85.00 per person (double occupancy). The park also has special pricing for a two-night stay and single occupancy rates for the weekend. The cost for Saturday’s programs without a lodge stay is priced at $50.00 per person.
There will also be opportunities to relax and renew with a facial or a massage by holistic relaxation therapist, Cheryl Compton. These will be offered for an extra $35.00 for thirty minutes or $60.00 for sixty minutes.
On Sunday, the park will hold their Second Sunday in October Walk. Donations for the walk will be accepted and will go to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure through Kentucky Cancer Program – Hazard-Perry County Coalition.
The beautiful surroundings at Buckhorn Lake make it an ideal place to reduce stress, lower blood pressure and heart rate, and renew oneself.

Buckhorn Lake’s center piece is the 1,200 acre Buckhorn Lake created with what has come to be known as the “Flood Control Acts of 1938” and the damming of the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River.
Located in the northern portion of the Daniel Boone National Forest, the park has some of the most dramatic and beautiful scenery in Kentucky.
Among the facilities offered include the Buckhorn Lake Lodge with 36 rooms each with private balconies or patios, cottages, the Bowlington Country Kitchen restaurant with seating for 220, an outdoor pool, horseback riding, fishing, and miniature golf.
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is located in south central Kentucky 25 miles northwest of Hazard and 124 miles southeast of Lexington and about 180 miles from Metro Louisville. The park can be accessed from either I-75 via the Daniel Boone Parkway and then to KY-15 or from I-64 via the Mountain Parkway and then to KY-15.
