Quran and Arabic Class for Women
Women in Cleveland and surrounding areas have a place to go to study Quran and Arabic. Masjid Uqbah offers a school for Women to learn Quran and Arabic. The school was created to help women read and memorize Quran with proper pronunciation, or Tajweed. It’s also set up to teach women the Arabic language. In addition to this women are also given the chance to interact with different sisters who are striving towards a common goal. The school is designed to engage learners of all levels. With educated instructors the courses are divided into three levels. Level one being the beginning and level three being the advanced. The courses are Quran Memorization with Tajweed, Conversational Arabic and Grammar, and Hadith.
The Holy Quran is the Word of Allah. Muslims follow this in everything that we do. This is why it is so important to know. The school offers the Quran Memorization and Tajweed class. In this class students learn different Surahs or chapters of the Quran. They memorize their assigned Surah in Arabic and English. They also learn all the different rules that are to be followed when reading and reciting Quran.
The Holy Quran was revealed in Arabic. So many Muslims strive to learn Arabic to be able to read and understand Quran without translation. Now, because of this the school for women offers Conversational Arabic and Grammar. The students start off learning basic words and phrases. As they progress they will learn more conversation and will get into all the grammatical rules that go along with the Arabic language.
Finally the in the Hadith class, they will go over sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, and his companions. Although Muslims do not worship Muhammed, we follow his example in many of our daily activities. With his example and the Quran we are given instructions on how to do everything. From the way we eat to the way we pray.
There are mostly Muslim women that attend these courses. However non-Muslim women are always invited to come and learn about Islam. These courses are offered for a tuition fee of $40 a month. However, families that have more than one student attending will receive tuition at a discounted price. For those who are unable to pay the Masjid offers scholarships. The classes are every Sunday with breaks throughout the year. Masjid Uqbah is offering a way for sisters to come together and further their knowledge in their religion.
