This post is going to be too late to have any impact on the vote, but there is this thing I just don't understand. Why are women's groups not making more of Romney's religious beliefs? I don't mean that his religion should be a political issue, but how it shapes his beliefs certainly should be. Mormons believe women have one purpose in life: To bring new life into this world. They are so lucky! Men can never do that, they are so envious of us! Only women can serve as vessels for new souls to take root.
But that is all they do. Unless it has done a 180 in the past few years, The Mormon church does not believe women belong in the business world and major decisions are not entrusted to them. Well, about child rearing, yes, and the housekeeping, but nothing else. It has been noted that Mrs. Romney has never earned a paycheck in her life. That's because her church believes she is not fit to. The church isn't singling her out by any means; NO woman is fit for the workplace.
Look, I don't care what anybody's spiritual beliefs are. As we all know, freedom of religion is why the settlers came here in the first place, it's the first freedom protected in the Bill Of Rights. I have no problem with Romney – or anybody else – being Mormon. But I have a huge problem with policy affecting women's rights being made by a man who does not believe women have rights outside the home.
I don't get why not even the League Of Women Voters hasn't picked up on this. Anybody know? …Anybody?
