Women's Fund of Miami-Dade plans celebration

The Women’s Fund of Miami-Dade is celebrating its 20th anniversary by naming an honor roll to recognize individuals who have made unique contributions to the organization and the community.

“Since our founding in 1993, we remain the only organization in Miami-Dade that exclusively serves and supports our women and girls,” said Marj Adler, Chair of the Board. “These women represent the best in our community and we are privileged to call them our sisters.”

Honorees include philanthropists, long-time Women’s Fund Board Members and supporters and staff, as well as the Fund’s founders Evelyn Cohan and Marilynn Gladstone. In addition, three women will be honored in memoriam. They include Evelyn Gilbert, Joanne Hays and Margaret “Peggy” Wilson. The Honor Roll inductees will be introduced at the annual Power of the Purse luncheon on April 19, 2013 at Jungle Island.

Long considered one of the premier luncheon and networking events of the social season, the Power of the Purse event draws close to 1,000 guests each year. The silent auction features items ranging from exclusive designer handbags to exciting travel packages and food and dining experiences. This year’s luncheon host is CBS Miami Anchor Shannon Hori, according to Adler.
