The Big East Weekly Honor Roll has been published. In this edition, a Louisville junior and Connecticut freshman take top honors.
Antonita Slaughter, a junior guard for the Louisville Cardinals, has been named Player of the Week. Slaughter, who hails from Louisville Christian Academy, made the headline for her performances in wins over Marquette and St. John’s.
Slaughter averaged 18 points and 6 rebounds in the wins as the Cardinals held their ranking through conference play en route to the Big East tournament.
Breanna Stewart, a freshman forward for the Connecticut Huskies, was named Freshman of the Week. Stewart attended Cicero-North Syracuse High School in New York and is beginning her college career in a stellar fashion. Stewart helped the Huskies beat No. 4 Duke and Cincinnati while averaging 11.5 points and 6 rebounds per game, including shooting 71% from the floor against the Blue Devils.

Notre Dame senior Skylar Diggins averaged 17 points per game this week to help the Irish go to 2-0. In her senior campaign, Diggins surpassed the 2,000 point mark in the Irish’s win over Providence.
St. John’s senior guard Shenneika Smith played a central role in the Red Storm’s offense last week. Smith averaged 22 points and 5.5 rebounds per outing and posted four blocks and three steals for the Johnnies.
Seton Hall senior Brittany Morris recorded a game-high 19 points in the Pirate’s win over Rutgers last week. Morris averaged 17 points and 4.5 rebounds and led the Pirates in scoring over the last two games.
Syracuse freshman guard Brittany Sykes earned the No.1 Play of the Day on ESPN’s SportsCenter for her 50-foot, game-winning buzzer beater against St. John’s last week. Sykes averaged 15 points and 6.5 rebounds for the Orange over their two contests.
Villanova senior Laura Sweeney almost willed her to victory against Providence. She averaged 15 points and 8 rebounds last week, including five blocks, four steals and 11 rebounds against the Friars.
