Women potters of Mata Ortiz pottery exhibition & juried show at Desert Museum (Video)

From January 26 through February 3, 2013, the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum is hosting the Women Potters of Mata Ortiz Pottery Exhibition & Juried Show. This is the first ever Mata Ortiz pottery show featuring only women. The pottery selected for the show were chosen through a process that involved interviewing more than 230 women potters.

The Women Potters of Mata Ortiz Pottery Exhibition & Juried Show features more than 150 pieces of pottery in 10 categories. One from each category have been selected as Best of Show and from those one was selected as the People's Choice Award. All pieces from the exhibit will be for sale.

As part of this exhibit and show there will also be opportunities to meet some of the pottery artists and watch demonstrations. There will also be a book featuring some of the women with pieces in the show.

About the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum: The Desert Museum is open year round, although the hours vary. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no entry after 4:15 p.m.) October through February, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no entry after 4:15 p.m.) March through April and September, and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (no entry after 3:45 p.m.) Sundays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (no entry after 9:15 p.m.) Saturdays June through August. Admission is $14.50 for adults ($12 June-August and $7 Summer Saturdays) and $4.50 ages 6 to 12 ($3 in Summer). Ages 5 and under are always free.
