Welcome to the 19th edition of the “Women of the Tampa Bay Music Scene” editorial series, dedicated solely to honoring the talented females who work in the Tampa Bay music scene, both on stage & behind the scenes. Each article in the "Women of the Tampa Bay Music Scene" editorial series will profile a different female, giving fans a chance to learn more about their respective backgrounds.
Today’s edition profiles Shari Mills, lead vocalist for the Tampa Bay cover/original band, HERE B4.
Born on December 5th, Shari Mills has long reflected the musical passions that inspired her when she was growing up in Tampa, Florida. Since graduating from H.B. Plant High School in 1980, Shari has continued to define and explore her distinctive voice throughout the years.
In the early days, Shari began her musical career as the lead vocalist for the all female, all original Tampa Bay area rock band called Dangerous Curves. Dangerous Curves performed all over the Tampa Bay Area, sharing the stage with such acts as Stranger, the Bobby Friss Band, Blood, Sweat and Tears and Dave Mason. Dangerous Curves recorded and released one album of original music together.
After her time with Dangerous Curves, Shari then joined PWC, a Tampa based band that played local clubs and special events, along with recording their own originals as well.
Following PWC and wanting to continue exploring the musical world, Shari then joined the band HERE B4 as lead vocalist. HERE B4 collectively brings years of experience to the stage. This combined experience creates a unique team of musicians presenting today’s modern, popular rock music, lots of rock classics, along with their originals as well. Being the rock n' roll party girl that she is, Shari brings a wild and energetic flair to HERE B4.
In 2008, HERE B4 recorded their first original song, “Open Your Eyes”, at AudioLab Studios in Tampa. Shortly there after, “Open Your Eyes” was chosen by Tampa Mayor Pam Iorio to be included on the “Local Motion” cd/podcast.
Though HERE B4 has gone through some member changes along the way, the band currently consists of the following musicians:
- Shari Mills - Lead Vocals
- Jason Perry - Lead Guitar & Vocals
- Kevin Rielly - Bass Guitar & Vocals
- Regan Scott Knight - Drums & Vocals
Previous members of HERE B4 include:
- Chuck Hansen - Guitar & Vocals
- Greg Kime (Sobriety X) - Bass Guitar & Vocals
- Craig Tomlinson - Drums & Vocals
