Welcome to the 22nd edition of the “Women of the Tampa Bay Music Scene” editorial series, dedicated solely to honoring the talented females who work in the Tampa Bay music scene, both on stage & behind the scenes. Each article in the "Women of the Tampa Bay Music Scene" editorial series will profile a different female, giving fans a chance to learn more about their respective backgrounds.
Today’s edition profiles Singer/Songwriter Erica DiCeglie.
Erica DiCeglie is an accomplished singer, songwriter, actor and musical director. Her soaring angelic voice has graced venues throughout European cities including Rome, Florence, Venice, Dublin and Karckow, as well as the Tampa Bay area. DiCeglie has opened for world renowned bands such as Salvador, Big Daddy Weave, Ginny Owens and Building 429.
Having studied musical theater at the prestigious American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York City, DiCeglie went on to star in revival productions of “Grease”, “The Fantasticks”, “Kiss Me Kate”, “Cabaret”, “Hair”, and many others as well.
DiCeglie was instrumental in producing and directing Jason Robert Brown’s “Songs For A New World” in Pinellas County. DiCeglie also has been a successful performer for the Children’s Theater Company's stage productions, and has performed at the Mahaffey theater in St. Petersburg, the Largo Cultural Center, and at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center.
DiCeglie has been a featured vocalist for cruise lines, was in an Andrews Sisters tribute, and has traveled the Bay area to sing and be the memorable highlight for numerous wedding receptions.
In September of 2011, DiCeglie self-released her debut CD titled “The Way Here”. Drawing much of her songwriting from lifelong influences like the Indigo Girls, Joni Mitchell, and Stevie Nicks, DiCeglie has been vocally compared to Kristin Chenoweth, Bernadette Peters and Linda Ronstadt. Both classic and eclectic as a vocalist and songwriter, Diceglie has a theatrical approach to her lyrics and loves the magic of telling a story through song. As a singer songwriter, her musical styles range from pop, to soft rock, to modern country. DiCeglie combines the best of the past with the most relevant of the present, in a compelling, authentic and singular voice and style that is hers alone.
For the past 10 years, DiCeglie has served as the Assistant Director of Music for the St. Jerome Church in Largo, where her musicality and voice continue to inspire those who come to worship there.
Frequently DiCeglie has been requested to sing the national anthem for the Tampa Bay Rays, and has generously offered her talent to a number of political events that have been hosted in Florida.
Erica DiCeglie will be performing at the “Seasons of the Heart” benefit concert at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Friday, March 2nd.
