Networking is vital in any industry to get to where you want to be. Being an Examiner offers instant networking with hundreds of content creators who are similar-minded in their desire to report, to share information, to meet their heroes or inspirational icons.
I have to hand it to the LA Music Examiner, Belinda Thomas. Belinda reported on this particular invitation-only event, and it sparked me to knock on the virtual door. I sent an email requesting to attend, since I'd be there for the whole NAMM event already.
The founder and creator of WiMN herself, Laura B. Whitmore responded, promptly, favorably!
After delving a bit into her bio, and the bio of just a few of these honorees; I am even more humbled and honored to be so welcomed into the same room for conversation with these great women of the industry! Laura is creating space in the music world for women to gain confidence and really develop their musical talents because all human kind is clearly not created equal. Men and women learn differently and are often overshadowed in what's still a male-dominated field.
Whitmore's Women in Music Network, in partnership with NewBay Media, presents the first annual She Rocks awards in Anaheim, CA on January 25th during the NAMM Show..
Recognized is 2013 Honoree, Holly Knight a multi Grammy®-winning songwriter, producer and musician. She is a 2013 Songwriter Hall of Fame nominee. She has written hits for some of the biggest artists in music, including Tina Turner, Pat Benatar, Heart and Aerosmith. She Rocks awards will also recognize industry leaders Orianthi, guitarist for Michael Jackson & Alice Cooper, Mary Peavey, President of Peavey Electronics, Tish Ciravolo, President of Daisy Rock Girl Guitars and Laura Taylor, Guitar Center Senior Vice President of Operations. The awards will also feature a performance from Ali Handal, author of Guitar For Girls.
Google some videos on Orianthi. After doing so several days ago, it made me pick up my electric guitar and fire up that love again. I am very eager to meet her, for just 27 she's shared the stage with Steve Vai, Santana, Michael Jackson and is a current member of Alice Cooper's band on tour. Hmm I wonder if Alice will be there, Im also a big fan of his..
