Women in music 2013: Madonna is top wage-earner according to Forbes top 10 list

Forbes magazine has released the top 10 women in terms of earning money in 2013 on Thursday, and it should be no surprise that “Material Girl” Madonna has had her hard-work efforts and ethics rewarded. Madonna is also the top-earning musician or celebrity in any category – regardless of being a man or a woman. Her MDNA Tour alone brought in $305 million. Besides that, she has her Truth or Dare fragrance, Material Girl line of clothing, and merchandise sales at her concert venues. Overall, she’s looking at $125 million for 2013.

Lady Gaga, who has gone with her natural look lately, pulled in $80 million in the past year. Her 2013 tour grossed $168 million before she was sidelined with a hip injury.

Taylor Swift had an incredible year with her fourth studio album “Red” selling 1.2 million copies in its late 2012 debut. Besides records selling, she has had concert performances throughout 2013 as well as nice income from her endorsement deals with Sony, Covergirl, and Diet Coke. She brought in $55 million.
