We see pink ribbons on lapels and in ads about breast cancer, the No. 1 cause of death among women. October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Pink usually connects with "female," yet men get breast cancer too. Not caught in time, it shouts urgent warnings to women and men.
Awareness is the key for any disease that tends to be silent yet also sends out signals through lumps, pain, soreness, and other symptoms.
This month look for Sony and other companies that produce pink products for this awareness campaign. Many cancer survivors wear products to celebrate anniversaries of remission or cure.
Most of all, spread the word and don't take chances. Get the annual mammogram and do self-exams regularly.
