Customs officials caught a woman sneaking into the U.S. in a suitcase, and she's in a bit of trouble now. CNN reported the details on Jan. 8.
Thai national Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak, 48, was the women sneaking into the U.S. in a suitcase via a car crossing over the U.S.-Mexico border. The suitcase was in the back of a Honda SUV being driven by a 56-year-old Phoenix man. Customs officials referred the SUV for a secondary inspection, and that is when the woman was discovered in the suitcase. She was laying inside the suitcase, tucked into a ball.
The name of the driver has not been released, and there has been no indication regarding whether he may face charges as well. The Bangkok Post indicates the woman had been deported from the U.S. 10 days before the incident. Mongkolsermsak has been charged with re-entry after deportation. The case of the woman sneaking into the U.S. in the suitcase has now been turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
