A woman who tried to crash her way into the White House grounds with her black Infiniti, was shot dead by Capitol Police. It is confirmed that there was a small child in the car with the woman while she was on this rampage. After running into White House gate she ran into cars and barricades, hitting a police officer with her car and wounding him, according to Fox News live on Wednesday Oct. 3.
The New York Daily News reports the car the woman was driving had Connecticut license plates. This incident began in front of the Treasury Department, next door to the White House. She rammed a barricade and a chase ensued by police. They tried to pin her in with police cars at one point and this is when she ran down a policeman who was injured and taken away by helicopter.
The woman broke away from police in her car after the police surrounded her vehicle and continued on this high-speed rampage. She was told repeatedly "get out of the car" and "leave the vehicle," by police, reports Fox live. She was "using her car as a weapon," reports a police officer, running into anything that got in her way, including an officer. The extent of his injuries are not known yet.
She was stopped after police shot her. This is when witnesses say a policeman rushed in and took a child out of the car the woman was in. The child "looked healthy" said the witness, according to Fox.
There is no official word on the child's condition, but the female suspect is dead. The woman driver was taken to a hospital about a mile from the scene and was pronounced dead. The wounded policeman was airlifted off the scene when a federal police helicopter landed on the mall and quickly evacuated the officer.
It is not known if the female suspect was armed and her name has not been released. There’s no apparent motive for this rampage. Again the condition of the child is not known, but the car that the woman and the child were riding in had the windows shot out by Capital Police during this chase.
